The National Right to Life Committee points out that Obama's budget would repeal the "Dornan Amendment", which prohibits taxpayer-funded abortions in the District of Columbia. Meanwhile, Center for Reproductive Rights is outraged that Obama (breaking another campaign promise) isn't trying to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits funding of abortions for Medicaid recipients. Does this mean Obama has moderated on abortion a bit? Not necessarily. If Obama can get a public health-care plan to cover abortion for anyone, it doesn't make much sense to fight over the Hyde Amendment now. (p.s. The title is a reference to a Simpsons episode. Scroll down to number 7.)
