Speaker Nancy Pelosi said this morning: "In its present form without any changes I don't think it's possible to pass the Senate bill in the House.... I don't see the votes for it at this time." (More quotes from Pelosi here.)
Meanwhile, the Washington Post's Ezra Klein has an idea for a "pared back" health care bill: "Let people over age 50 into Medicare, expand Medicaid to people under 200% of the poverty line, and pay for it through a tax on the rich."
In other words, one of the leaders of the reality-based community thinks that the Medicare buy-in--which died in December--is now viable.
