This week's Fareed Zakaria quotation comes courtesy of Cindy Adams, who interviewed the great man in her New York Post column (Sept. 27) about how he manages to find the time to do the innumerable extraordinary things he does. Answer: He doesn't have the time.

I'll let Dr. Zakaria speak for himself: "Something has to give in my working life. I like writing books, but can't devote as much of my energy to that. I spend half my time at CNN, half at Newsweek, and as a Ph.D. who's a parent and aware of discipline, between TV and columns and all these other things, I try to sneak in a book."

Dr. Zakaria did not specify whether he meant reading a book or writing a book; but as a Ph.D., there can be no doubt he's capable of either!
