During debate in the Wisconsin state assembly on the budget repair bill today, Representative Elizabeth Coggs, a Democrat from Milwaukee, called on the federal government to "intervene" in the state in order to "get some real justice" because "Wisconsin right now reminds me of Mississippi back in the 50s and 60s."

"Today, I look at Wisconsin as an apartheid system," said Coggs, arguing that she didn't get the same police protection as Republican legislators (some of whom have had their lives threatened).

But she didn't compare Walker to Hitler, as Democratic senator Lena Taylor did last month, so perhaps in the fevered minds of Wisconsin Democrats their situation is not quite so dire as it was a short time ago.
