The Obamacare numbers keep coming in, along with the expert analysis. We get the latest figures. Then we get the spin. Can, slow-motion, instant replay be far off?

In the end, what one would like to know, to paraphrase the late Ed Koch, is “How are we doing?”

Well, this headline from Taegan Goddard’s Wonk Wire at Roll Call may come closest:

Latest Obamacare Enrollment Numbers: It’s Not All Bad

In other words, good enough for government work.

It is interesting, though, that the people who wrote the law are among those unhappy with its enforcement. As reported by Hannah Hess, also at Roll Call:

Nearly 4 in 10 chiefs of staff and district directors recently surveyed by the Congressional Management Foundation said they would likely be looking for a job outside the office within the next 12 months. “The elimination of staff’s traditional health care has been a complete disaster,” said one senior staffer, responding to the survey. “If you wanted a legislative branch run by K Street lobbyists and 25-year-old staffers, Mission Accomplished.”

So good enough for government work is not good enough for the people who work for the government.

Sounds about right.
