In 2009, the Obama administration made news with an $18 million, five year contract to redesign, the website the government set up to allow taxpayers to track the stimulus spending enacted by the president and Congress soon after President Obama took office. On Wednesday, notice of a contract awarded to Smartronix, a Hollywood, Maryland company was posted for "Modification to exercise the Option to Extend Clause" for a total of $527,216.00:

The stimulus is now into its fifth year. The contract notice does not indicate what modifications are needed to the website to keep the public informed of the ongoing operation of the legislation.

According to the website, $803.1 billion of the $840 billion authorized by the stimulus has been disbursed.
