At 12:54 a.m., on Saturday December 22, President Barack Obama and his family arrived at Kailua, a Hawaiian town on the island of Oahu. Almost five days later, Obama, leaving his wife and kids behind, departed the island to return to Washington, D.C. Obama’s vacation lasted a brief 118 hours, according to pool reports.
So what did Obama do during his vacation?
Mainly, he golfed. Obama spent about 17 and a half hours golfing this Christmas vacation.
On December 26, Obama left his vacation home at 9:27 to spend about 6 hours on the links, with buddies Bobby Titcomb, Mike Ramos, and Greg Orme. They golfed at the Klipper Golf Course on Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
On Christmas Eve, December 24, Obama departed his vacation home at 9:33 a.m., according to the pool report. He remained on the golf course until 3:15, p.m., spending about 5 and a half hours on the golf course. He again golfed that day with Bobby Titcomb, Mike Ramos, and Greg Orme.
And on December 22, the first full day of his vacation, Obama left his vacation home at 11:34 a.m. to go golfing. He finished up on the links at 5:35, spending nearly 6 hours with Sam Kass (his personal White House cook), staffer Marvin Nicholson, and buddies Bobby Titcomb and Mike Ramos.
Titcomb was at each golf outing this vacation. Titcomb, a longtime friend of Obama, was in the press last year after being busted for soliciting a prostitute in Hawaii.
As for time with this kids, Obama had only two outings for about two hours apiece with his entire family.
After golfing on December 26, Obama met up with his family on beach, which was located on the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, near the golf course. He arrived at the beach, according to when the pool reporter's email was sent out, at 2:32 p.m. local time. At 4:22, the pool reporter said the president had left the beach.
In addition to his brief time at the beach, the other outing with his family was a brief two-hour hike with Michelle Obama and their daughters. At 1:49 p.m., on December 23, Obama arrived at the Maunawili Demonstration Trail. At 3:58, Obama was done hiking, and headed back to his vacation home.
Obama also worked out (as he did for about more than an hour on Christmas Eve, an hour and a half on the morning of Christmas Day, for an hour on the 26th).
The president, along with the first lady, also went to a memorial service for Senator Daniel Inouye. And the first couple went out for dinner together the first night of their vacation. The pool report signals that "family" and "friends" were present, but fails to name names.
