The Obama campaign is out this morning with a sarcastic ad all about Big Bird, mocking Romney for wanting to eliminate the federal subsidy for PBS. The press is already pointing out the Obama campaign is playing "small ball" in the wake of Obama's disastrous debate performance, even as Romney has subsequently given a major foreign policy address and otherwise elevated his campaign. The RNC is further pointing out that Obama has mentioned Big Bird eight times and Elmo five times since the debate, and has made no mention of Libya or an economic plan. Despite this, the Obama campaign really seems to be banking on its PBS attack. Last night, the president compared the plight of Elmo to O.J. Simpson, suggesting the beloved muppet was in a "white suburban" and "heading for the border":
