Republican congressman Denny Rehberg of Montana has released his first television ad in his race against incumbent Democratic senator Jon Tester. The ad contrasts Tester votes in the Senate for "higher taxes," to "raise his own pay," and for "bonuses for Wall Street executives" with Rehberg's House record.
"Denny Rehberg cut taxes, opposed bailouts, voted against pay raises, because it's your money, not theirs," the voiceover says. Watch the ad below:
A recent poll showed Rehberg ahead of Tester by 10 points, and Tester has been forced to distance himself from Barack Obama and the national Democratic agenda. Instead, the freshman senator, elected in 2006 on a wave of anti-lobbying sentiment, has attempted to gloss over his own spotty record on lobbying and focus on his Montana roots.
