There are reports this morning that Israeli jets conducted a raid on the Syria-Lebanon border yesterday. On Tuesday, chief of military intelligence Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi was reportedly in Washington to speak with high-level American officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey, perhaps regarding concerns that beleaguered Syrian president Bashar al-Assad may transfer weapons to Hezbollah.

While most attention has focused on the possibility that chemical weapons might wind up in the hands of the Iranian-backed militia, official Israeli sources have explained to THE WEEKLY STANDARD that there are a number of items in Syria’s arsenal that if transferred to Hezbollah constitute “game-changers” for Israel.
