First, there was the creepy, nonfactual video. Then HHS Secretary Sebelius announced, "we have a lot of reeducation to do" on the national health care law--and spent $3 million in taxpayer money on TV ads featuring Andy Griffith selling Obamacare. Now, they're taking over the Internets:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has bought a Google advertisement to steer people searching for "ObamaCare" to a page that is customized to detect searchers' locations and steer them both to local health insurance information and to a list of "what's in the law for you."

"We are using a bunch of search term[s] to help point people to Part of our online efforts to help get accurate information to people about the new law (i.e. also use Facebook, Twitter, blogs and webcasts)," an HHS official confirmed by e-mail.

Byron Tau notes that the purchase is a concession to the popularity of the term Obamacare (whoda thunk it'd catch on more than Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act?), but isn't the propaganda effort also a little creepy? How would people have reacted if the government ran TV ads and bought up search terms selling the Iraq war?
