Wendy Long, a Manhattan lawyer, activist, and former Supreme Court clerk, is projected to win the Republican nomination for Senate in New York. With over half of all precincts reporting, Long has won 55 percent of the vote, while Congressman Bob Turner has 34 percent and Nassau County comptroller George Maragos has 11 percent.

Long, a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard law school, will face incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in November. Gillibrand is heavily favored to win reelection, and recent polls show New York's junior senator leading Long by double digits.
