Washington doesn’t normally do thrift. Governing is a hard job and the people who do it like to pamper themselves. Consider President Obama who recently traveled to Europe on government business and took along 45 vehicles and a team of 900 people. One or two of whom had a bit too much to drink and were sent home.
Still, even the government can find ways to trim a little and save some money. It might, for instance, dial back on the number of limousines in its fleet of vehicles. As Eric Katz of Government Executive reports,
But the government seems to be cutting back on the luxury vehicles already. From "412 limos in 2010, according to data from the General Services Administration, [to] just 130 in 2012 -- a 68 percent decrease."
So that turnip may have already been bled dry. Making it time to start looking for other things to cut back on. Like agencies.
Starting, perhaps, with the Department of Education.
