Not to be outdone by the Obama Democrats, local and state governments are doing their best this summer to annoy you with new taxes and regulations.

First, Portland health officials shut down a cute little kid's lemonade stand for operating without a permit (officials later apologized to said cute kid).

Then came news came yesterday that Philadelphia was requiring bloggers to pay $300 for a license.

And today, Katherine Mangu-Ward has details on the latest injustice: a new 8-cent tax on bagels in New York--but only if they're sliced.

What great idea will a little leviathan come up with next?
