Vice President Joe Biden thanked a new citizen of America "for choosing us" in an odd exchange earlier today. From the pool report:
[S]itting with his wife and 4-year-old son, already enjoying a scoop of key lime frozen custard, Tae J. Kim couldn't believe what was happening.
"It was surreal, but it was also very real," said Kim, 30.
Before he knew it, Biden was sitting next to him.
Kim, a businessman who first moved to the U.S. from Korea 20 years ago, was moved by the moment to tell the vice president about a personal milestone.
"You know, about a couple of months ago, I became a U.S. citizen," Kim told the Winston-Salem Journal, recalling the conversation.
Biden responded: "Thank you for choosing us."
