Bill Clinton, Having Fun

Bill Clinton's had an awfully good week.

First, Al Gore gets embarrassed by Masseuse-gate.

Second, Clinton casually explains at a panel discussion in South Africa that maybe we should be blowing up the leaking BP oil well--even though the Obama administration has repeatedly ruled that out. So much for confidence in the administration's judgment. As for the president's personally distant response to the oil spill, Clinton goes on to "defend" the president by saying that presidents need to "be themselves." Ha.

And third, Clinton announced today that he would campaign for Andrew Romanoff, the former speaker of the state house and a Hillary supporter, against Sen. Michael Bennet, an Obama ally whom Romanoff is challenging for the Democratic nomination. Clinton claimed that Romanoff gives Democrats the "best chance" to win in November. Perhaps because he's associated with Clinton, not Obama? (At least this time, it's all above board--unlike the Joe Sestak case in Pennsylvania, where Clinton conveniently failed to persuade his ally to drop out after Rahm Emanuel requested his intervention on behalf of Obama-endorsed Arlen Specter.)

The former president must be in great spirits.
