On Friday evening, the House of Representatives passed the Boehner proposal to raise the debt ceiling and cut spending. No Democrats voted for the bill, and 22 Republicans voted against it. ![]() The bill now goes to the Senate, where the Democratic majority is expected to vote against it. The debt ceiling deadline set by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is August 2, when the United States is expected to begin defaulting on its debts. UPDATE: The roll call is here.
