Debbie Wasserman Schultz Takes Aim at GOP Candidates

"It's our responsibility, whether we're Democrats or Republicans, whether we agree or disagree, to remember we're Americans first, and that words have an impact," Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said after a crazed gunman opened fire on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others at a open event with constituents in Tucson, Arizona. "We don't know when the words we've chosen will send someone whose psyche is frayed to begin with, over the edge."

The Florida congresswoman also called for "a new tone of civility in our public discourse," according to cbs12.com:

In a statement Monday, Wasserman Schultz says the shooting has reminded her that "words have the power to hurt and to heal."

She says the country needs "a new tone of civility in our public discourse."

She says, "Let us show the world that there is so much more that unites us than divides us."

But since that time, Wasserman Schultz has become chair of the Democratic National Committee, and seems to have forgotten her previous pledge--elections are, after all, less than a year and a half away!

Now, the DNC is taking on a distinctly uncivil tone. It's blasting GOP candidates for having "extreme aims," while seemingly urging its base to "Duck, Dodge, and Dismantle" Republicans.
