Democratic Dirty Tricks In Illinois

With recent polling consistently showing the GOP nominee, Mark Kirk, leading mob banker Alexi Giannoulias in the Illinois Senate race, the Democrats are pulling out all the stops to try and steal any Republican advantage.
First, the Wall Street Journal reported the Democratic National Committee was “push-polling” Illinois conservatives to smear Kirk’s record and promote the Libertarian candidate Mike Labno.
Then it was a Democrat county clerk in the metro east region of the state who thumbed his nose at the Department of Justice and delayed sending absentee ballots to the military. “I really don’t care what the Department of Justice thinks,” the clerk said.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Giannoulias admitted that his campaign sent direct mail pieces to Republican households trying to promote Labno as a conservative “alternative” to Kirk. When asked if he thought the mailer was deceptive, Giannoulias said: “No.”
The president arrives on Saturday to stump for Giannoulias in what can only be described as last-minute CPR for a struggling campaign. We'll just have to wait and see what new dirty tricks the Giannoulias campaign will roll out to welcome home the man of “hope and change.”
