Via Politico, the Democratic National Committee has a preview of the sort of advertisement strategy it will take against Mitt Romney if he is the GOP nominee next year. The latest ad hits Romney for switching positions on abortion and health care reform:
According to Alexander Burns, this ad will be running in five swing states--New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin--as well as in Washington, D.C.
Romney campaign spokesperson Andrea Saul has responded to the ad. “President Obama has failed to create a single net new job and has wreaked more havoc on the middle class than any president in modern history," Saul said in a statement. "The last thing the White House wants is to have to run against Mitt Romney and be held accountable for the many failures of this Administration. So, instead of focusing on the economy and creating jobs, President Obama and Democrats are focused on tearing down Mitt Romney.”
According to the RealClearPolitics poll average, Romney currently polls the best among the GOP candidates against President Obama in a general election. Obama leads the former governor of Massachusetts by just 1.5 percentage points.
