More people filed for unemployment last week than had the week before … But the average for the month of May was lower than it has been since 2007.  And, for lagniappe, there is the fact that the number that came in almost hit “expectations” dead center. As Jeanna Smialek of Bloomberg reports:

The four-week average for jobless claims fell to 310,250 in the period ended May 31, the lowest since June 2007, a Labor Department report showed today in Washington. The number of applications last week climbed to 312,000 from 304,000, in line with the median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

Tomorrow, the unemployment job numbers for May.
