Florida Polls: Romney Now Leading Gingrich in Close Race

Three polls released in the immediate aftermath of Newt Gingrich's South Carolina primary victory showed that the former House speaker had surged to a 5 to 9 point lead in Florida. But two new polls released today show Mitt Romney back on top. 

A CNN poll of likely voters shows Romney up 2 points on Gingrich: 

According to the poll, 36% of people likely to vote in Tuesday's Republican primary in the Sunshine State say they are backing Romney as the party's nominee, with 34% supporting Gingrich. The former Massachusetts governor's two point margin over the former House speaker is well within the survey's sampling error.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania is at 11% and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is at 9%, with 7% unsure. 

And an American Research Group poll shows Romney leading Gingrich by 8 points:

Romney leads with 41%, followed by Newt Gingrich with 34%, Rick Santorum with 9%, and Ron Paul with 7%.
