Forty-six percent of Americans believe the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Obamcare will hurt the economy, according to a new Gallup poll. Only 37 percent believe the health care overhaul will help the economy.

The poll, taken on Monday and Tuesday, also found that 47 percent of independents and 20 percent of Democrats believe the law will hurt the economy.

Average Americans are certainly in no better position than economists to know exactly how the legislation will affect the economy, but their assumptions and perceptions have political repercussions nevertheless. And at this point, Americans' views on the economic impact of the ACA are more negative than positive.
