Today is the first day of the Democratic convention in Charlotte. Coincidentally, GM, the embattled car company that was bailed out by the federal government, has some good news to report. "Today General Motors (GM) reported its August sales of 240,520 vehicles in the U.S., up 10 percent compared with a year ago," a press release from the VP of global public policy reports. "All four GM brands posted higher total and retail sales. In particular, Chevrolet passenger car sales were up 25 percent, with the Spark, Sonic, Cruze and Volt all posting their best-ever monthly sales."
