GOP Rep: Defunding Obamacare Risks Returning Pelosi to Speaker's Office
1:11 PM, Aug 15, 2013 • By MICHAEL WARREN
Adam Kinzinger, a sophomore Republican House member from Illinois, told constituents at a meeting earlier this week that trying to defund Obamacare could hurt the GOP and lose enough House seats to return the majority to the Democrats. The effort, supported by some conservatives in both houses of Congress, is to block a federal budget resolution that contains funding for Obamacare's implementation.
"Eventually, there will be a collapse of will to keep the government shut down because soldiers are not getting paid and all this other stuff is happening. And we turn around and we lose 10 to 20 seats in 2014," Kinzinger said. "And whether we win the battle or not, we've lost the war because Nancy Pelosi's Speaker of the House."
He continued: "This is not a disgareement on defunding Obamacare. This is not a disagreement on whether we like or hate the health care bill. This is a disagreement on tactics in terms of what is the best way to ensure that in the future we can repeal this law without bringing down the American economy or bringing down the Republican majority in the House."

A constituent later debated with Kinzinger, arguing that the upcoming budget battle could be the last chance to get rid of the health care law.
