One of the leading Republican opponents to Democratic senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina has a new ad in which he promises to "clean up" the mess in Washington that she's "enabled."

"Obamacare is a disaster, but the president won't admit it," says Thom Tillis, the Republican speaker of the state house of representatives. "The debt's out of control, and neither party has stopped it. Kay Hagan enabled President Obama's worst ideas. She refuses to clean up his mess, so you and I have to clean up hers."

Watch the ad below (via the Washington Post):

Polls have shown Tillis within single digits of Hagan, though the Republican primary field has at least three other candidates vying for the nomination.

Tillis's ad comes on the same day that American for Prosperity, a free-market outside group, has launched its own ad criticizing Hagan for her vote and support for Obamacare.

Hagan was first elected to the Senate in 2008, defeating Republican Elizabeth Dole.
