Heritage Action: Ryan Budget Shows 'Seriousness of Purpose'

Heritage Action, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation, released the following statement on the House Republican budget:

Chairman Paul Ryan deserves credit for confronting the main drivers of our debt crisis – our runaway entitlement system.  Of course, there is much to be done if we are to save the American dream, but this budget signals a seriousness of purpose that Americans expect from their lawmakers.  Heritage Action looks forward to a spirited conversation over the future of our country.

While many proponents of the status quo and America's decline into a European welfare state may claim this budget is radical, the reality is, if anything, it is too safe. Real spending cuts, reforms to middle class entitlement programs, and pro-growth tax changes are needed urgently. Now is the time to save our nation.

Heritage Action supported last year's budget from Ryan, and scored it as a "key vote" in its annual congressonal scorecard.
