With the support of Lamar Alexander, ratification of the New Start treaty is a done deal. But it's kind of ironic that the left-leaning, Obama-supporting Huffington Post is calling New START a missile defense treaty. Republicans, and particularly Senator Jon Kyl, fear that New START is just that -- a missile defense treaty -- and that it would inhibit the U.S. ability to build up our defense. Further, the Republicans are arguing, nuclear reduction shouldn't be tied with our ability to defend ourselves. The White House, however, is trying to say that New START isn't a missile defense treaty. It's too bad they can't get even the Huffington Post to believe them.
