With Republicans picking up a Senate seat with Dan Coats's win and two House seats so far with Todd Young winning in the Ninth and Larry Bucshon winning in the Eighth (Brad Ellsworth's old district), the Hoosier State seems to have turned back to the GOP after its flirtation with Obama and the Democrats in 2008. Ben Smith reported senator-elect Coats's wife Marsha summing it up: "Indiana is a red state again."

Here's Andy Ferguson predicting Indiana's Ninth as a bellwether district in the magazine:

Pundits are calling Indiana’s 9th Congressional District a “bellwether,” Young said. A big win there, early on Election Night, could inspire west coast Republicans to swarm the polls, transforming otherwise close races into GOP victories and wresting the country from the Democratic death grip.

Meanwhile, Democrat Joe Donnelly held on in his toss-up South Bend-based district 48.2% to 46.8%. A libertarian candidate grabbed 5% of the vote.
