Republican Matt Doheny, a House candidate in upstate New York, lost his two previous bids for the seat. His more recent defeat, in 2012, came after photos and video surfaced of Doheny, then engaged, kissing one woman and canoodling with her and another woman outside a Washington, D.C., restaurant. Doheny had been attending a GOP-sponsored candidate workshop in Washington. The woman he was photographed kissing was Monica Notzon, a Republican fundraising consultant who was working for Doheny's campaign at the time.

Reached for comment Wednesday afternoon, Doheny's campaign strategist Bob Honold repeatedly refused to say whether Notzon was working on Doheny's 2014 campaign. After saying he was receiving another phone call, Honold ended the conversation and called back a few minutes later to say, indeed, that Notzon is not working for Doheny this time around.

Honold also added, unprompted, that despite losing the race to Democrat Bill Owens in 2012, Doheny outperformed Barack Obama in that district.
