Mexican presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto asked Vice President Joe Biden for a glass of water today at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City, according to the pool report compiled by Alfredo Corchado of the Dallas Morning News.

VPOTUS asked reporters and cameramen: “Weather still good out there, gentlemen?” a reference to the near perfect climate in Mexico City, 65 degrees.

He then asked Pena Nieto whether he needed anything[.] Pena Nieto responded in broken English, “I’m fine. Maybe water. Glass of water would be fine.” When he saw a new group of photographers, Pena Nieto remarked, “Oh another pool. Do you mind if we do this once more,” and proceeded to shake hands. When asked for more handshakes, he grinned and said, “no, not again.

The pool report does not state whether the vice president of the United States got a glass of water for the Mexican presidential candidate. Peña Nieto, who leads in the polls, did not breach diplomatic protocol, however, as he is not a diplomat.

Biden was meeting with the candidates today to discuss "the bilateral relationship, their vision for Mexico, and what they see as the biggest challenges facing Mexico," according to Corchado. "Each meeting lasted about 30 minutes."
