No #1's (or #2's)!

In sports as in politics, the conventional wisdom is often wrong

President Obama picked the four #1's to go to the NCAA Final Four. In this, he was in accord with conventional wisdom, which had the #1 seeds likely to be even more dominant than usual. So we have a Final Four with a #3, #4, #8, and #11.

In fairness to the president, out of 5.9 million brackets entered into ESPN's website, exactly two picked all teams in the Final Four.

And remember this: Politics is even less predictable, and more likely to defy conventional wisdom, than sports.
