Cory Booker is this political season's designated superman.  The stuff of legend.  Kind of guy who hangs out with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.  Does all the cool digital stuff, like tweeting.  (Can you believe it?) A natural.  And so forth.

On the other hand, he may be an empty suit and the voters of New Jersey may be tumbling to that, on the eve of next week's special Senate election.  With the polls trending toward his businessman opponent, Booker's supporters are turning on the cash spigots.  One of them, Michael Bloomberg, is in for a million.  As Michael Barbaro of the New York Times reports, Mayor Bloomberg believes that Mr. Booker is

“… a solutions guy rather than an ideologue.”

Hard to hear much of the rest of Bloomberg's statement over the din of voices protesting the influence of big, outside money in politics.
