At this year's annual turkey pardoning event at the White House, President Barack Obama took a jab at Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

According to the White House transcript, Obama said, "Well, good afternoon, everybody.  (Turkey gobbles.)  (Laughter.) They say that life is all about second chances.  And this November, I could not agree more.  (Laughter.)  So in the spirit of the season, I have one more gift to give, and it goes to a pair of turkeys named Cobbler and Gobbler.  The American people have spoken, and these birds are moving forward.  (Turkey gobbles.)  (Laughter.)  I love this bird.  (Laughter.)"

Obama's "one more gift to give" is an "apparent reference to Mitt Romney's claim after the election that Obama won by giving 'gifts' to minority groups," according to BuzzFeed.

Obama also used today's event to make a joke about New York Times blogger Nate Silver.

"Now, I joke, but for the first time in our history, the winners of the White House Turkey Pardon were chosen through a highly competitive online vote.  And once again, Nate Silver completely nailed it.  (Laughter.)  The guy is amazing.  He predicted these guys would win," Obama said at the event.
