Quinnipiac's poll of New Jersey shows Obama's approval rating dropping to 44 percent:

President Barack Obama is headed in the wrong direction as New Jersey voters disapprove 52 - 44 percent of the job he is doing, down from a 50 - 46 percent positive score June 21 and the president's lowest score ever in the Garden State.

Chris Christie's approve/dissaprove rating rests at 47-46. That's pretty good for a Republican governor who enacted budget reforms in Democratic state.

And if Christie changes his mind and runs for president, he wouldn't even need to win his home state to win the presidency. But Obama would almost certainly need to win New Jersey, which has gone Democratic in every presidential election since 1992.
