On Israel, Obama the Uniter—Except of Jerusalem

President Obama has united Democrats and Republicans on a single issue: Israel. That's the premise of a new Emergency Committee for Israel ad targeting the special election in New York's 9th Congressional District:
Ben Smith reports that this ad is "part of a broader campaign ... in New York City that's expected to run well into the six figures. There are currently newspaper ads in print in, of course, the Hamptons, showing Obama shaking hands with a beaming Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas; I'm told New Yorkers can keep an eye out for TV and billboards."
The ad takes the debate over Obama's Israel policies right into New York City—a largely Democratic constituency that has historically been pro-Israel.
The executive director of the Emergency Committee for Israel, Noah Pollak, tells the New York Daily News: "We wanted to give credit to Turner, Weprin, Ed Koch, and everyone who has done the right thing by standing up to Obama's awful treatment of Israel. It takes a special kind of President to unify Republicans and Democrats against him. Obama has seemingly done the impossible."
"The tag-line is that Obama's a 'uniter, not a divider -- except of Jerusalem,'" Smith reports.
