Obama: 'We Never Need an Excuse For a Good Party'

At tonight's Hanukkah party at the White House, President Obama seemed to slip a little off script when he told party goers that "we never need an excuse for a good party." All his guests laughed.

From the official White House transcript:

So while it is not yet Hanukkah, let’s give thanks for our blessings, for being together to celebrate this wonderful holiday season.  And we never need an excuse for a good party.  (Laughter.) 

I guess the president could have said the same thing about his golf habit. As Mitt Romney's campaign has noted, the president has played “1,584 holes since 2009.″ 

But with unemployment at 8.6 percent, and with many having already quit looking for a job, I doubt many Americans would be heartened to hear the president saying he "never need[s] an excuse for a good party."
