The latest poll by Daily Kos/Public Policy Polling shows Wisconsin governor Scott Walker leading Democratic challenger Tom Barrett 50% to 45% in the state's gubernatorial recall race. Those are the exact same numbers PPP found prior to the Democratic primary and the exact same results Rasmussen found when it polled the race last week immediately after the Democratic primary.

These poll numbers help explain why the Democratic National Committee appears unwilling to help out Wisconsin Democrats. Although Walker's 5-point lead isn't insurmountable, the election is only three weeks from today, and it's hard to see how opinions about Walker will move much in the most polarized state in the country. Then again, there's always a chance the race is closer than Rasmussen and PPP indicate: A recent Marquette University poll showed Walker leading Barrett by just 1 point.
