Quinnipiac: Obama 45%, Romney 45%; Obama 45%, Perry 42%

The latest poll from Quinnipiac shows President Obama stuck at 45% in match-ups against Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. Obama does better against Michele Bachmann (48% to 39%) and Sarah Palin (51% to 37%).

Perry is the least well-known candidate among the four Republicans. According to the poll, 55% of voters haven't heard enough of Perry to have an opinion of him, while 35% say the same of Romney (37% say that of Bachmann, while only 11% don't know enough about Palin). So it will be interesting to see if Romney's slight edge on Perry in a match-up with Obama vanishes or grows as more voters get to know the Texas governor.

As for the GOP primary, Quinnipiac shows Perry with a 6 point lead nationally over Romney: 

Among Republicans and independent voters leaning Republican, Perry gets 24 percent to Romney's 18 percent, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's 11 percent, Minnesota U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's 10 percent, Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul's 9 percent and businessman Herman Cain's 5 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gets 3 percent, while former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, former Sen. Rick Santorum and Michigan U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter get 1 percent each.
