Romney not far behind president in key swing state.

A new Rasmussen poll of likely voters in Ohio shows Rick Santorum tied with Barack Obama in a hypothetical November match-up at 44 percent. In the Midwestern swing state, which will be critical for a Republican presidential victory in the fall, Mitt Romney falls 4 points behind Obama in that potential race, 45 percent to 41 percent. Here's more from Rasmussen:

Ohio voters favored a generic Republican candidate over Obama in an Election 2012 matchup in early November. But the president has consistently run stronger against named GOP candidates than he did against the generic one. Also, his job approval ratings have improved in recent weeks as Americans become a bit more bullish on the economy.

According to Rasmussen, Santorum does marginally better nationally against Obama, 45 percent to 44 percent, while Romney falls 6 points behind the president in a national match-up, 48 percent to 42 percent. According to RealClearPolitics, Romney still leads his GOP rivals nationally by nearly 12 points, and he also leads in the current delegate count.
