The AP reports that:
With the unpleasantness of a stretch in the joint for taking bribes behind him, it is back to the old laisez bon temps roule for Edwards. Next we hear, maybe he will be running for reelection. And if he declared, and could legally stand for office, then he would probably win. Edwards made political wickedness sort of delightful – to watch, anyway – and none, certainly, could say he was guilty of sanctimony.
Included in his somewhat ... ah, uneven legacy is the memorable bumper sticker from the election when he was matched up against David Duke, a feral racist. Everyone in Louisiana knew Edwards was corrupt. He seemed almost proud of it. But taking money was like misdemeanor jaywalking up against Duke's larger crimes. So on cars all over Louisiana, voters were encouraged to:
Good to hear he is doing well.
