Both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are out today with new television ads for Michigan markets. Romney's ad, titled "Growing Up," is a positive profile that highlights the former Massachusetts governor's Michigan roots and echoes what Romney wrote in his op-ed in the Detroit News about the auto bailouts. Watch the ad below:

Santorum's ad, "Very Very Best Chance," is also positive, highlighting the former Pennsylvania senator as a "full-spectrum conservative" and a "favorite of the Tea Party." The ad, as Zeke Miller points out, is nearly identical to a commercial Santorum's campaign aired before the South Carolina primary:

The Romney campaign is telling reporters that its plan to defeat Santorum in February 28's Michigan primary is to "define" Santorum as a Washington insider who lacks executive experience. The Romney camp will certainly be aided in this task by the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future, which is buying up big ad time in Michigan between now and February 28. A spokesman for Red, White, & Blue Fund, the pro-Santorum super PAC, tells the New York Times that it is currently polling voters in Michigan before making an ad buy there.
