If I had more dramatic flair, I'd announce that I'll be in seclusion for a while, grimly pondering the Republican future while re-reading the great Yeats poem, "To a Friend whose Work has Come to Nothing."

In fact, I'm at the beach for a couple of days, cheerful if disappointed, and looking forward to tonight's Delmarva Shorebirds game against the Lakewood BlueClaws (in the class-A South Atlantic League). And then . . . how about Rubio-Ryan?

UPDATE: The Lakewood (N.J.) BlueClaws defeated the home team Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-2. The Shorebirds were clearly demoralized by Ryan's decision not to run.
