The president has returned from Florida and is back in form, warning against the imposition of the drastic spending cuts called for by what is known as the "sequester."
The spending cuts will amount to about 3 percent of the federal budget and this, of course, means that firefighters and teachers will be the first to be laid off.
The sovereign tactic of the political class, when forced to spend less than it would like to, is to throw a tantrum and shut down the Washington Monument.
Unfortunately, it is already closed.
Forced, then, to make those bloody cuts of 3 percent, the only alternative is to start firing fireman.
This sequester is truly a monster. Whose idea was it, anyway?
