As reported by Joseph De Avila in the Wall Street Journal, Connecticut, legislators are being pressed to consider something called, "An Act Concerning the State Polka."

The bill would make a tune called "Ballroom Polka," which was ""written by Connecticut polka legend Ray Henry ... the official state polka."

The legislature does have other matters to deal with, to include a budget deficit of $1.2 billion. Still, as there is legislative support for the bill and, as one sponsor argues,

"We have a state bird, we have a state fish, we have a lot of things named the state whatever. It's a nice thing. It's all relative. What may be silly to you may be important to someone else."

With 19 members trails only Illinois in representation in the Polka Hall of Fame.
