Walker's Approval Rating in the 40s

Rasmussen released the job approval rating for Wisconsin governor Scott Walker today, and it's not pretty:
Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, had better job approval numbers for Walker earlier this week: 46% approve/52% disapprove.
It should have been expected that he'd dip under 50. After all, Chris Christie's job approval dropped after he announced his budget last year. And school teachers, who have to pay at least a few thousand dollars more each year for benefits under Walker's plan, are popular: 73% of Americans have a positive view of them (45% very/28% somewhat), according to a new WSJ poll.
Christie's since rebounded, but the polls are a reminder that the politics of austerity isn't easy. Walker and the vulnerable GOP state senators seem to be fully aware of the political risk, and they aren't backing down.
