The BlogU.S. Intelligence Confirms: Russia Bombed U.S. Embassy, cont.11:57 AM, Jul 28, 2011
• By DANIEL HALPER
Following this write up, Joshua Foust seems to have regained an interest in the reports that Russia is responsible for bombing the American embassy in Georgia. You can read it here, but the long and the short of it: Foust remains skeptical of Georgian claims, he remains skeptical of Eli Lake's reporting, and he is now also skeptical of the CIA's own assessment of Russian culpability for the blast because the CIA isn't "infallible."
Indeed it is possible there is a conspiracy afoot to make Foust look like a useful idiot, but he does allow that if somehow he turns out to be wrong and the Russians really did set a bomb off at the U.S. embassy, as all the evidence and analysis in the public domain suggests, that would be "pretty damned stupid of them"—though it would still be "silly" to expect the administration to respond to this kind of attack, or to allow it to undermine the great progress of the 'reset.'
