A new Washington Post/ABC News poll finds some not-so-great numbers for The Great Compromiser. Nearly 6 in 10 Americans think President Barack Obama is "not willing to compromise on the budget deficit," while 77% say the same of Republican leaders.

Eighty-two percent of Americans see "serious harm" to the economy "if the government cannot borrow money after Aug. 2 to fund its operations and pay its debts."

The poll also asks "Who do you think would mainly be responsible if a deal on raising the debt limit is not reached?" Thirty-six percent say Obama, 42% say Republicans, and 19% volunteered both Obama and Republicans would be at fault.

So after weeks of demagoguing Republicans as ideologues, Barack Obama doesn't fare much better than congressional Republicans.

On the other hand, Mickey Kaus notes: "Scientists Discover Alternate Universe in Which Obama has 'Rolled' GOPS."
