Fox News projects that Democrat Elizabeth Warren has defeated Republican Scott Brown in the Massachusetts Senate race.

Brown first won his Senate seat in a 2010 special election to fill the seat held by the late Democrat Ted Kennedy. That was a low turnout election conducted at the height of the national debate over Obamacare, which Brown said he would oppose in the Senate.

But Massachusetts is overwhelmingly Democratic, meaning Warren had a clear advantage to win the state.
