While attentions have been focused on outsourcing, tax hiking, and other political news, Iran has declined either to go away or to behave itself. Tensions have not eased and the Pentagon is taking precautions:

Aircraft Carrier

“The U.S. is deciding whether to keep two aircraft carriers in the waters around Iran through the end of the year in a move that risks inflaming tensions with the regime, according to U.S. officials,” CNN reports.

“The Navy is rushing tiny underwater drones to the Persian Gulf to help find and destroy sea mines as part of an American military buildup aimed at stopping Iran from closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the event of a crisis, U.S. officials said,” writes the Los Angeles Times.

Probably wise to remember that the world does not go away during an election year. The world especially does not go away during an election year.
